Start with a seven-day trial.
Create an account, verify your email, accept the current agreements, and choose monthly or annual per-user billing. The trial itself is read-only and limited to supported Assets workflows plus Settings.
What you need
- A Smartsheet work account with the role needed for your review.
- Approval to test with safe sheets or workspaces visible to your account.
- A clear first goal such as inventory, search, export, or Cell History.
- A support-safe way to capture screenshots with sensitive data removed.
First session checklist
- Create your CrystalSlate account. Use your work email and purchase one seat for each authorized user.
- Choose your workspace. People invited to more than one organization select the workspace they want to manage.
- Connect Smartsheet. Use the connection method shown in the app.
- Use the tailored Start screen. After connection, CrystalSlate only shows workflows your trial, subscription, and Smartsheet role can open.
- Complete the read-only trial. Use Assets inventory, search, export, or Cell History. Trial users do not see write workflows or administrator-only areas.
- Export what you reviewed. Save CSVs or review records for business-owner approval.
- Only then consider writes. Use typed confirmations and sandbox assets wherever possible.
Good first workflows
- Assets inventory: load a workspace and confirm owner, path, access, and modified-date details.
- Assets search: locate accessible sheets, reports, dashboards, or rows without changing them.
- Bulk export: download a small approved selection for offline review.
- Cell History: inspect the value history of a selected cell where Smartsheet permits it.
What changes after paid activation
Paid activation adds supported write workflows and role-dependent areas. Regular users receive applicable Assets workflows, Group Admins also receive Groups, and System Admins receive Users, Groups, Assets, and Activity. Inaccessible workflows are omitted rather than shown as locked.
